Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account(through the NHS website or in the NHS App). These NHS accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
- complete a Patchs request
You can also:
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
- bring the paper repeat slip to the surgery
Please put the form or repeat slip in the box provided in the reception foyer. Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:30pm.
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or via email.
Housebound patients
If you are a housebound patient or have a registered carer you can request repeat prescriptions over the phone. We kindly ask where possible that you try to request repeat prescriptions online for patient safety.
The housebound prescription line is open 2:00pm till 5:00pm on 01977 642251, selecting option two.
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at the surgery reception
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- complete a Patchs request.
- send a message via SystmOnline
- phone the surgery on 01977 642251 between 8:00am and 6:30pm.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Find a pharmacy
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Pharmacy First
Park Green Surgery may arrange for you to be seen by a Community Pharmacist through the NHS Pharmacy First service.
This service offers fast, convenient treatment for seven common conditions, without needing to wait for a GP appointment:
- Sinusitis
- Sore throat
- Earache
- Impetigo
- Shingles
- Infected insect bites
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Your consultation with the Pharmacist works in the same way as a GP appointment. If needed, the Pharmacist can offer NHS treatment, including antibiotics.
How it works
- If Pharmacy First is suitable for you, the Practice will securely share your details with the Pharmacy.
- The Pharmacist will contact you the same day to arrange your consultation.
- After you have been seen, the Pharmacy will update the Practice, so your medical record stays up to date.
Private Prescriptions
Recently all GP Practices have received guidance from The British Medical Association (BMA) regarding the issuing of private repeat prescriptions. The legal advice is clear that in cases of treatment under the primary care contact, GP’s cannot issue private repeat prescriptions. They will be in breach of obligation if they do so as this is classed as denying the NHS of revenue.
